Dear Dr. McCord, for forty years I have suffered with severe low back pain, unable to participate in many activities with my family and friends. Traveling was especially painful, and I had to take pain pills to be able to bear traveling even though the medication could not totally relieve the pain. I haven't been able to even take a walk for over three years. Since my surgery and recovery time, I can now walk, bend, and twist with no pain. Last week I traveled by car to New Jersey, a 12-hour trip, without any pain or pain medication for the first time in forty years! This surgery has given me back my life.
