Every doctor told Sam Jones his back pain was inoperable. But he found a doctor with a new operating technique, got back on the golf course, and scored two holes in one.

My name is Sam Jones, and I was a home service insurance man and did that for 31 years. But I had to retire early because of deteriorating disc disease which took away my bottom disc and bottom vertebrae was hooded over my tailbone, causing severe pain. Particularly up and down my right leg and back and then other parts I have arthritis of the spine. I retired at age 58, in 1993-94. I was told by a large group of doctors in Nashville that my back is inoperable, and I would be reduced to a life of misery and pain. I could not stand in one spot for very long without severe headaches. I could not sit in a straight chair very long without severe headaches. So I was in a recliner a lot. I could walk, and I did walk a lot, and move a lot.
One afternoon I was watching the television and a commercial for Dr. David McCord came on and said he had a new radical way of operating on the lower part of the back, [going] through the front, and that he had accomplished some good things with that. So I made my mind up to see him the next day, which I did. He did surgery on me, put two carbon fiber discs one on each side of my spinal cord. It helped me greatly, I got my pain decreased quite a lot. I got back on my feet, I was able to do some things I enjoy. One thing is I’m a witness for the Lord Jesus Christ, and I give him the credit that I caught Dr. McCord on there and I gave him the credit for Dr. McCord doing the work on me. I do public speaking sometimes, and I’m able to do that.

Also I play a lot of golf. I’m not a real good golfer but I’ve had five hole in ones. In December 6th, 2012 I had TWO holes in ones in one round of golf and Windtree Golf course in Mt. Juliet. I had a hole in one on number 5, played on through to the backside and had a hole in one on number 11, witnessed by six different people. Two guys playing with me, four guys playing in front of us happened to see both of those. We have a witness to that, it was in the paper and on three websites at one time. I’m here today because of the work Dr. David McCord did on me and I really appreciate it. I’ve even made extra effort to come by and thank him on occasion. And I’m here today to make this statement for those of you who have been told you are inoperable, you might see Dr. McCord. Because I know of others he has helped that other doctors would not even attempt to help. So that’s my testimony for him. Again I give the Lord Jesus Christ the credit for opening my eyes to see there’s help that comes from other people, as God uses people.

It has now been 20 years later that I had the operation, even for a healthy person to have two holes in one in one round of golf, the oddsmakers tell me the odds are 67 million-to-1. For someone with a bad back puts your golf swing greatly affected by your shoulders. And for someone with lower back pain I don’t know what the odds would be for accomplishing that. So I’m very thankful and very happy, I’m still playing golf, I’m not good but I love to play!
I don’t know how percentage wise it’d be able to express the difference in before and after the surgery he’d done on me, but it’s tremendous. I was reduced to a life of pain and misery. But now as you can see I’m able to sit here and enjoy speaking with you, and to tell this story that concerns Dr. McCord and myself. Also I have met other people that did not know that I had been to Dr. McCord and had told me what he has done for them. Being a public speaker as I am, at a lot of meetings I’ve met others he has helped when other doctors wouldn’t bother.

I was sitting in my recliner somewhere around the 6 o’clock news, I saw this radical new doctor on TV, Dr. David McCord that repaired the back by going through the front with two chrome tubes and four lights, and that’s what he did with me. Absolutely, I did not have anything to lose. It was like one of the old country comic singers that said he was hunting possums up in the tree, and hollered to the one down and said “Shoot in amongst us.” They said “we’re libel to hit you!” He said “one of us has gotta have some relief.”
I’ve also been told by others “I won’t let anybody operate on my back.” I said is your back hurting? They’d say no, so I’d say don’t let anyone operate on your back. But I was in a position where I did not want to go on like I was. And through God’s grace and mercy, I’m here today.
